Maybe some of you who know about dogs can explain why the beag does this.
When the weather is warm and nice, the beagle LOVES to be out on my back porch. She BEGS to go out. Once she's out in the yard, she just sits on the back porch, just sits there, and, every few minutes she'll bark once. Not an ongoing bark bark barking like some dogs do. She just does this one bark every 2 or 3 minutes, sometimes longer intervals. She doesn't go out into the yard as if she's barking at something. She just sits calmly on the back porch and barks. It's not even all that irritating, as if she were barking at or about something. But it is odd.

Any theories as to why she does this?

3. She hears something you don't hear
or perhaps it's a call out to any of her species in the neighborhood who might woof back. "Yo, any other canines out there within earshot?!" "Hey, yeah, I'm stuck over here in my yard, too!" If they could, they'd be running around in a pack putting graffiti on sidewalks, trees, telephone poles, and fire hydrants. ;)

4. May well be
communicating with a dog(s) that you can't hear but she (being a beagle) can.
