1. Does Star Fleet need to upgrade its training and personnel evaluation of the teleporter officer corp? I ask because not only in the movie (Checkov AND Scotty) but also in the TV show (pretty much any of the main characters) if there is any difficulty, anything out of the norm the current teleporter operator is quickly ordered out of their seat so that someone else can "drive".
"Red shirts" get a bad name but teleporter operators have to live with their ineptness
2. If they can teleport things why don't they just "beam" the ship where ever they need to go? Including just teleporting themselves out of trouble
