(A shot of Faramir and his men, riding towards Osgiliath. The orcs prepare to shoot arrows.)

"And there are many paths to tread ..."

(As his son rides on, Denethor merely eats, his face empty of emotion. We see Faramir pull out his sword.)

"Through shadow, to the edge of night. Until the stars are all alight."

"Mist and shadow, cloud and shade ..."

"All shall fade ... all shall ... fade."

(Denethor eats as the orcs release their arrows. Pippin turns to look at the un-moved Steward. He closes his eyes and swallows the lump in his throat. At the same time Gandalf sits alone in silence on an empty castle yard.)

I can picture * as Denethor, callously sending our young men (and women) to die in Iraq, as he stuffs his stupid, chimp-like face. :grr:
