1. Really depends on the song
Most of Dylan, I prefer by Dylan, but I like the Byrd's version of "YOu ain't goin nowhere" better...and there are a ton of covers that I like...Simply Red's version of Positively 4th Street comes to mind.

2. Voted original, but depends on the song
I'm glad you phrased the question so well. :) I like many versions of many songs, IMHO his original are just better. Depends on mood too. GREAT TOPIC

5. There are Dylan covers that are better than the original......

All Along The Watchtower - Hendrix made it his song

Mr.Tambourine Man - The Byrds

I Shall Be Released - Nina Simone

Quinn The Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn) - Manfred Mann

Gotta Serve Somebody - Mavis Staples

What Was It You Wanted - Willie Nelson

6. When Guns and Roses desecrated "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" my
daughter brought her copy of it to me and said I had to listen to this song, she knew I hated G&R but honest, mom, really good song, so I listened and really had a hard time keeping a straight face (and not puking over Axel's nasal tone) and then I told her I had always loved that song, she was right, great song....and then of course she wanted to know what I was talking about so I told her who wrote it and originally performed it, and she just lost it, it was SO funny, she HATED Dylan and called him 'old and moldy' all the time, and she just could NOT get over the fact that this was his song...
cracked me up.

7. I prefer GNR's cover to all those Byrds' covers from the 60s.
But Dylan's versions are always best.
