Your Computer Is Dirtier Than A TOILET!
and i ain't even MENTIONING all that PORN you gots on yer hard drives!

<snip>

KEYBOARDS, computer mice and telephone dials are more infested with microbes than toilet seats, according to a University of Arizona study.

The study recommends that office workstations be regularly disinfected since they can on average contain 400 times as many germs as a toilet seat, said Charles Gerba, a University of Arizona microbiologist.

According to the study, telephones harboured up to 25,127 germs per square inch, keyboards 3295 and computer mice 1676. The average office contains 20,961 germs per square inch.

"Desks are really bacteria cafeterias," Mr Gerba said in a press release. "They are breakfast bars, lunch tables and everything else, as we spend more hours at the office.

3. Oh it's true
And I used to be an academic advisor for college students, and I can tell you how hard it is! And in education, you get janitorial services about twice a year. Otherwise, we had to do it ourselves.

Now I'm a graduate student and have to use "public computers" at the university.

Some of the keyboards are so filthy I won't touch them.

6. Mine ain't, it gets regular cleaning, BUT - public/work keyboards ???
.
.
.

THAT's a whole different story . . .

and realizing that most of our "diseases", flu-like especially are spread by hand,

I ALWAYS wash my hands before and after using any public or work keyboard - -

ya just don't KNOW where those other people's hands have been !

My computer itself has "filters" - those little white ones you can buy for your floor vents, and I cut them and fasten them to the inside AND outside if most of the accesses where the air goes in -

WHERE does all that dirt come from in a month - ( I wash the filters almost monthly) -

BUT
for the curious

Here's what one techie found when a 'puter came in with a complaint of Floppy Drive problems . .

makes ya wonder eh ?

OH

and the WORST place for your puter is on the floor,

yah,

the one right down there by your feet :dunce:

8. Uggghh
I'm the technical troubleshooter in a college library with about 50 workstations. Guess that would explain why I've been fighting sore throats and the flu all winter long.

I wonder if you can order 5-foot body condoms or hazmat suits from the online office supply store?
