I think I'm going to cancel my Match.com membership.
I don't really think most people on there are really there to meet people. I think they're just there to browse. Plus, I don't think I'm attractive enough to pull the women I'm really interested in, and I'd really rather be alone than lower my standards. So, I think I'm done with it.

Any suggestions?

1. How long have you been signed up on that site?
I ask because I just wonder if you might not be giving up too soon.

2. About a month.
I think the area I'm in is kind of bad for internet dating anyway. There aren't any big cities near-by, so the choices are VERY limited.

5. Well, they say to give it 6 monhts.
Why not hang around on it for a little longer?

Never know...you just might meet someone.

3. Watch your card
I used Match. When I canceled, they kept billing me, took me three months to get them to stop and another two to get my money back. Two months after that, they started billing me again, I got them to stop again right away but again had to hound them and wait to get my money back.

4. Noted.
I'm not a fan of any site that automatically re-ups your subscription.

8. The problem I have with eharmony is that...
... they don't let you see any pictures of anyone before you sign up. Every other site at least lets you get a peek at some of your options. I don't want to sign up and them not be attracted to anyone I'm matched with.

10. For reasons I'm too sleepy to go into, I thought eharmony was a scam
I'd never spend another cent with them...

9. I'm about to rejoin--the women I'm meeting through"normal" ways
mutual friends, , women in audiences when I play, are equally loony as the ones from match. And I did actually meet one last year on match that I dated for awhile; wasn't really right for me, but I like her enough ( and vice versa) to have remained friends. Also, I found that when I tried to do any business ( i.e. money) related stuff with match on line , nothing got taken care of correctly, but if I called, the people were polite and helpful and things got taken care of right then and there. And you CAN turn off the automatic re-up easily without having to even call...

11. I was on there years ago. Made some great friends I have to this day, but...
Never met anyone that was relationship material.

I met my wife via a mutual friend at a party. Yes, it was one of those, "when you least expect it" moments.
