1. Kathy Bates, maybe, or Charlize Theron
I love Kathy Bates. Think back to "Misery" and "Dolores Claiborne."

Maybe Charlize Theron. Not for the glamor factor (bah!) but because she was just amazing in "Monster." She could play a woman like me.

It would have to be someone who can play crazy really, really well. We know that those two can.

2. based on similar looks ( or so I've been told) Dustin Hoffman or Al Pacino
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 12:30 PM by abq e streeter
Hoffman I can see, personality-wise too. Flattered by having been told more than once that I look like Pacino, but don't see it. However, somewhat depressingly, that movie , loosely, has already been made. A few years ago, a Rabbi friend of mine told me "ya gotta see High Fidelity, it really reminds me of you". Great movie, but considering its about a rock and roll obsessed, going nowhere loser from Chicago, with a string of screwed up romances haunting him day and night, it did hit a little too close to home, and its disturbing to think that Rabbi Joe immediately thought of me when he saw it. Here's some more irony about this too: Joe and I attended the same high school near Chicago( I graduated in'68, he was class of '77, and we both live in New Mexico now; we were amazed when we realized we'd attended the same high school, and even elementary school too), but at the time he said I had to see it, neither of us realized that Cusack also went to our high school ( class of '80). Finding this bit of information out took the sting out of the self-recognition a little; it made more sense knowing the movie was made by another kid from our town...

16. Heh
At least you have the cool factor of Cusack. My movie-that's-already-been-made is Empire Records--just substitute books for records.

20. True, Cusack is very cool, but still playing a depressed loser ...
Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 02:22 PM by abq e streeter
On the other hand, if its my life, that means Bruce Springsteen magically shows up in it . That's pretty damn cool too for a hardcore E Streeter.... Never saw Empire Records; do you recommend it? I'm always up for checking out a band, book, or movie that a fellow progressive thinks is worth it.

21. But Cusack is such a COOL depressed loser!

Empire Records is...ehmmm...not the best movie in the world, but it has a cult following and can be appreciated on a special level by anyone who has ever worked retail. (It was written by a Tower Records employee and includes a lot of stuff that actually happened at his store.) Bonus for dudes: it's got a VERY young and cute Liv Tyler, likewise a VERY young and nearly unrecognizable Renee Zellweger (with a decent amount of pounds on her frame--it was before she became a lollipop head). Killer '90s soundtrack, too.

I like it anyway.

3. According to a Facebook quiz, it would be Kate Winslet.
I'm not sure about that, though. She'd have to work on her hawtness level a bit. :P

12. I'd obviously pick some hot actress I want to meet. This is because I'm a guy, so
the top consideration is not biographical accuracy -- the top consideration is whether I get to meet hotties when serving as a consultant for the movie

Come to think of it, I'll need maybe eight or ten really hot actresses to play me in the movie. Can I pick their girlfriends, too?

15. By default, Kal Penn.
There's so few Indian-American actors, and while I don't look like him at all, I look more like him than the other Indian-American actors.

Of course, I'd have to give her extensive coaching about the "self-love" teen years.

But I think I'm up to it.
