very deep, driven straight down. I pulled it straight out with a tweezers. It was just my luck that I did not get the whole thing.

Of course I did this on a Sunday when my doctor was not available. I drove to the hospital to have it removed in the emergency room. Fortunately, it was not a long drive, or I might have passed out. (Why do the relatively minor things hurt so much)?

I have insurance. They paid for the whole thing.

But why did it cost $1,262.00? I was there for an hour. Why did it cost $253.00 for supplies? They put some betadine on it, shot some lidocane into my finger, cut the nail back, removed the sliver with a tweezers, and slapped on two bandaids. WTF?

all they did was monitor me for an hour and a half: which means they did a 30-second test which I know for a fact cost them less than $10, then had me sit in a chair in an empty room reading for about an hour, came back to ask how I felt, and discharged me. Bill: $300.
