9. I know some people rag on him, but I like him
In concert, he sounds exactly the same as he does on LP/tape/CD. Not too many singers can say that anymore.

17. You are exactly right on that. I saw him in concert several years ago
when he and Elton John toured together and it was a wonderful evening. I think he's one of the best.

it seems the 80's were his peak popularity years. And it looks he is not mentioned as much as Dylan and Paul Simon

18. My dear UndertheOcean!
His songs have always resonated with me! No idea why...they just always have.

Great ballads, great kick-ass hard rocking songs, all of them are wonderful!

Some of them make me get up and dance, and some make me cry...

Some of them make me wish I could sing...

I can't, so I let him sing for me.

Enjoy!

:hi:

Hoping to keep him away from anyone who hasn't heard him yet, in order to preserve our cultural heritage.

26. He's Always...
been under-rated as a song writer. I agree that he is one of the best we have seen in decades. The fact that he is "so" commercial, doesn't bother me.

30. I didn't tell you because of the sheer level of suck-i-tude in his alleged "music"
"Cad-i-lack-ack-ack-ack" my royal Italian ASS.

God, the only thing better than Billy Joel is the dog licking your face while you're passed out loaded on the couch.

NOT-A-FAN.

Sorry.

31. Years ago I worked at The Charlotte Observer
in the advertising department. There was a theme park called Carowinds which had live music on the weekends. One of the acts canceled, can't remember who it was...but it was a country singer. The last minute replacement was Billy Joel, who I took to be another country singer. Well, his name seemed kind of country. I placed the ads but wasn't interested in going with my free tickets. I gave the tickets to a co-worker, who went, loved the music, and decided to use her press credentials to go backstage and interview Joel, who was courteous, funny, and unhurried. He had only received a lukewarm reception from the audience, who was expecting country music, but my friend was very impressed with his music.
