Les Paul's birthday 6-9-09 - send him a card!
Les Paul, extraordinary guitarist, musician, inventor and wise guy will celebrate his 94th birthday Tuesday, June 8. He has been playing professionally since age 15, still plays at Iridium, a club in NYC, with his trio on Mondays. If you want to send him a card, the club's address is:
Iridium Club
1650 Broadway
New York, New York 10019
ATTN: Les Paul

Les loves fans and I am certain he would appreciate a birthday card, even if a bit late....

Thanks.
Mark

ADDED: Some of his recent performances with the trio are on Youtube.

arthritis in his hands and doesn't have the blazing speed he once had, but he still plays great music and has a wicked sense of humor.

I sent him a card and apologised for playing a Telecaster...
I'm sure he understands.

There is another one on Youtube called "Les Paul - Chasing Sound" that has some great segments, including Les being inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame at age 90. ("I'm happy to be here tonight...on Earth.")
Also has some Les and Mary and some insight about how bad his fingers have become and how determined he is to continue to play.

I heards several of his records at my grandfather's houst when I was very young, and I wanted to play guitar from that day on, so I guess Les is responsible for giving me a great deal of enjoyment for the last 50 years or so, and as for long as I possibly can play.
Thanks. Happy birthday.

9. 94?
He must have a solid body to have lived so long!

Happy Birthday to the Original Guitar God!

(speaking as someone who loves Les Paul guitars as much as Fender Stratocasters)
