The price of vanity...

(OK, Oedi accused me of vanity, I tried to blame it on stupidity but I concede his point now).

On Friday morning I was in a rush getting ready for the kindergarten field trip and managed to gouge my eye with my mascara brush (I know, why put on makeup for a kindergarten field trip, but it is hard to keep up with the stepford wives amongst the but tutchers friends moms), anyway, it hurt but I ignored it until Saturday when I finally went to urgent care and was given a dx of a severely scratched cornea, I was sent home with antibiotic eye drops and vicodin :P

Since I am a wimp I didn't look forward to the pain of the eyedrops so I waited until Sunday night to put the first dose in and another dose this morning whereupon my entire face swelled up, my blood pressure went through the roof and I was throwing up and nearly passing out, thankfully I was at my moms so she took me to the ER where they decided I was having an allergic reaction to the medicine (no shit, eh?).

So dear friends, I was almost done in by my overwhelming desire to have thicker, fuller lashes :P

An allergic reaction to the medicine can be fatal if your throat swells up.

Mascara in the eye is bad enough but a scratched cornea...yikes!

I betcha good old Witch Hazel-soaked cotton squares would be better for your eye than some silly doctor concoction.

The first time I scratched my cornea it was while re-attaching a fake nail- the nail glue squirted into my eye.

The second time- yes, with a mascara brush.

I've never worn makeup, which is probably just as well. I'm fairly accident prone, lol.

and bought a new one that promises even thicker lashes! :P

Remember, dear: there's no need to put mascara on the roots of your lashes.

(As far as I know they don't make a soft-bristled mascara brush, but a LOT of people could use that.)

every time I got pink eye from mascara

he used to tell me stories about women patients who had the worst allergic reactions to their eye makeup.

But, they kept using it - the same brand - because they "loved it and can't find anything as good."

So, Michael just kept treating them and making money.

Mascara shouldn't be anywhere near your eye - just at the tips of the lashes. But I have stupidly long, thick lashes, so I've always looked like a howling monkey whenever I used it.

But, try just doing the tips of your lashes. That's what Dr. Michael used to tell his patients............
