For those of you that partake of the burger....
What do you put on it?

Cheese?
Condiments?
Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Me - nothing but mustard.

except sometimes I'll go with mustard instead of mayo & ketchup.

And sometimes I'd rather have swiss cheese with grilled onions and mushrooms.

30. D'oh! No wonder this burger was a disappointment...
It is important to have a high beef to other stuff ratio - the burger is the star attraction after all. Whenever I'm at a restaurant I usually find myself removing 3/4 of the lettuce, 2/3 of the pickles, half the onion, etc. A lot of places seem to (wrongly) think that mere height produces a 'big burger.'

No complaint, though - all the removed stuff produces a nice little salad...

7. First thing I do is ask the Prez if he can run out and pick up my order...

When I buy hamburger meat (and I get it from a great butcher down the street) before I make the patties, I mix in garlic and Italian Seasoning Ms. Dash into the burger meat. Then I use my patty maker to create the patties (and use freezer paper to separate them each so I can have one or I can have 5 at a time).

I like a slice of light havarti cheese and ketchup on a wheat bun and I've been trying to add lettucee too

Now I load up on avocado, a couple veggie patties, a little tomato, and lots of mustard.

Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, a little onion (raw onion doesn't like me sometimes), dill relish, HELLMAN'S mayo, mustard, and ketchup.

The beef has to be well seasoned, too. Cooked to medium, no more. Nice soft bun.

Delish! :9

51. It varies -
With a garden variety burger, then chopped raw Vidalia onions, a bit of sweet pickle relish, and ketchup (I have a strong preference for Heinz).

If one goes up the meat quality chain a bit, then some sauteed mushrooms (perhaps with a bit of onion sauteed along with the mushrooms), topped with Swiss cheese, and ketchup.

If one goes still further up the meat quality chain, then bleu (Roquefort would be a waste, but it works too) cheese, topped with a bit of raw chopped Vidalia onion. And some (but less) ketchup.

Some, I am told, will put various BBQ sauce concoctions on their burgers. No, no, a thousand times no! BBQ sauce goes on ribs or chicken, but not on a decent burger. And, as much as it pains me to say this, President Obama notwithstanding - mustard, any mustard, on a burger is an abomination, and is to be devoutly avoided.

If using buns, butter them ever so lightly, then toast in the broiler before acquainting it with the burger. Once toasted, serve ASAP.

My fave fast-food burger is one from Hardees - Mushroom & Swiss. But when at home, one can do the mushrooms the correct way, add onion, and the bacon. I might consider lettuce too ... but A-1 on a burger is not for me but Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce is.

Mark.

That said, I tend to only eat burgers from two sources. The first is Red Robin, and if any of you come on and tell me that's unacceptable to you for some reason, you're dead to me :)

The second source is my dear ol' mom, who makes the best burgers EVER. I'm not one of those people who thinks my mom is the best cook in history, especially since she taught me pretty much all of her recipes and I can now make them as well as her. However, the burgers are just a thing o' beauty.
