I had my first composite resin filling today.
I went to the dentist today(I hate going to the dentist)to have a cavity filled. He told me he was going to use the composite resin type of filling and it looks a lot better than the metal kind.

-Composite resin fillings or plastic dental fillings are an alternative to metal tooth fillings. Composite dental fillings look like a natural tooth and will not show any signs of a filling when opening the mouth. These fillings are just as strong and should last approximately 6-12 years.

1. If you must get a filling, at least be sure it looks nice!
No, seriously, I totally get your fear of the dentist.

2. They look much better, and don't darken the rest of the tooth over time either.
Find a kind and competent dentist and do what it takes to take care of your teeth. It took me decades to get over my childhood dental experiences, but choosing my own "painless" dentist was a big part of that.

3. They're great for small, superficial fillings on non-grinding teeth
Not so great for larger fillings on molars. I have pretty gold crowns on those teeth now.

I insist on amalgams for anything that won't show!
