Why is my 6-year old so fixated with human waste?
Will he ever outgrow it?

God help us all.

1. "He"
Edited on Mon Jun-15-09 05:06 PM by MorningGlow
The answer is no. He will never outgrow it. Because he's a "he". :P

Embrace the doody fixation and celebrate the farts. Assimilate. It's the only way. (So sayeth a mama of a 5 YO boy.)

3. So I'm walking my dog with my 4 year old nephew...
Linus (the dog) does some of his business and Jack (the nephew) says to me..."I like to watch dogs poop and pee."

5. Because he's 6.
And based on some of the men I know, he may not necessarily outgrow it.

8. Reminds me of a story
My friend had a hard time potty training her son, especially getting him to poop in the toilet. One day, he finally agreed to try and was successful. He immediately burst into tears and said "Check it mom". She said "What honey?". He said, "My bum. Is it still there?" He actually thought he pooped his bum off.

12. My three year old tells us all about his "poopie tank"
He's convinced that poop is stored in his little butt cheeks. And yes, he has a matching pee-pee tank in the front.

33. He's Fixated on Boobies Already...and Waste...and Derrieres
And his own little willie.

The only thing he DOESN'T fixate on are vegetables, homework, and quiet.

Still, we're considering keeping him.

20. Teach him to put the fascination to use - Track animals by their scat
http://www.biokids.umich.edu/guides/tracks_and_sign/leavebehind/scat/

Get him accessories for this new hobby:

http://www.acornnaturalists.com/SCAT-TRACKS-AND-OTHER-ANIMAL-SIGNS-P1370C272.aspx

Encourage him to find out about this new hobby - there is lots more info out there. He'll either learn a lot of interesting nature lore or get totally bored with it.
