I Miss MST 3000
Edited on Wed Jun-17-09 09:26 PM by Steely_Dan
Remember Mystery Science Theater???

I saw the movie version of it and it brought back some great memories. Where is Joel and Servo...They need to bring it back.

Great scene from the past. A man is looking over the cliff and sees a skeleton laying on the beach and Servo says: "Another great Jenny Craig success story."

Too funny.

7. I never got the appeal.
My girlfriend at the time was into it and tried to get me to like it too, but I found less than 10% of the comments to be funny and the breaks to be intolerably annoying. Just not my cup of tea.

I understand there are a lot of DVDs available now, though.

8. I Think....
You have to be kind of a smart-ass like me to fully understand MST3K.

9. Most of the people who like it do seem to be smartasses.
My ex certainly was; she belonged on the show. The problem is that the stuff she said was a lot funnier than the MST guys.

10. I recently found a bin with about 20 MST3K tapes
Some we taped from late 90's, some Rhino tapes. Went to Goodwill and picked up a VHS machine just so we could watch them.

Oh man - Space Mutiny, Prince of Space, The Wild World of Batwoman...

We're having a blast!

26. I've been thinking about getting a VHS machine from Goodwill
We have old tapes that we like, but the 20-year-old VHS broke.
Did you get to try it there, to make sure it works?

32. Took a chance - $4 for a 4-head Emerson
It works fine but does not have a remote. No big deal, but I may spend a few more bucks on a universal remote.

16. I been thinking about that show lately.
I think that television style should be mandatory for all TV channels.

We need those guys 24/7 pointing out when things are not right.

17. i recently 're-discovered' it on youtube
and have been watching every clip i can find...for whatever reason, i never fully appreciated the comedic genius it in its heyday the way i do now...

I was in H.S. in the early 90s, and believe me, every time we were shown some really old or bad movie for class, the wannabe smartasses all went into 'MST3K Mode'...But of course it was never as witty or badass as the real thing...

19. There are plenty of movies IN THEATRES that are deserving of hecking.
Digging up old garbage from 1958 or 1982 is so passe, mainstream media has more than caught up with the times (some movies are self-parodies too! :D )

21. that's what got me looking for MST3K clips again...
you see enough shit on cable or at the movies that is SO bad, you instictively start looking for some nerd with a couple of wisecracking robot puppets to grant some kind of salvation....
