I love socks
I'm knitting a pair right now. So much more comfortable than store-bought. :)

Do any of you ever wear hand-knitted socks? :hi:

1. I love feeling the texture of hand-knit socks.
I haven't had the pleasure of wearing any yet though.

2. I do...
Edited on Thu Jun-18-09 04:53 PM by reyd reid reed
and yup...I'd have to agree. I only have two pair for myself, though. I knitted a pair for the SO and I'm making a pair for #3 son now...the 'mad about plaid' sox so that he can wear 'em with his combat boots.

Hand-knitted socks ROCK (hand-knitted just about anything, actually)!!!

:bounce: :hi: :bounce:

edited for fat-finger syndrome

3. They are a luxury.
Befitting someone of regal means, such as a grand poobah or high priestess.

11. I sure do.
My main problem though is wool is by far the easiest fiber to make them out of, but wool makes me itchy. I recently knit a pair out of bamboo/cotton/elastic blend, which feels great, but is too costly for me to use regularly. Until I find a good, durable, inexpensive non-wool yarn to use, I will have very few pairs of hand-knit socks.

12. Cascade Fixation is Cotton/Lycra, iirc
If you can account for the stretch, it makes a nice sock. :)

14. I'll have a look.
Is it durable? Most cottons are a bit lacking in that respect.

13. Never wore any hand-knitted ones.
I actually really only like to wear socks to bed. I like being barefoot.

21. I had a friend knit me two pairs while
I was in the hospital recovering from a c-section. They were the most comfy socks ever. I had both pairs up until recently - they're holding up okay. The softness of the thread is all but gone, but they were made with lots of love and I hate to get rid of them. If I could ever figure out how to stop fucking up my purl stitch, I'd make me some more.
