12. Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye
Kiss me each morning for a million years
Hold me each evening by your side
Tell me you love me for a million years
Then if it don't work out
If it don't work out
Then you can tell me goodbye

Sweeten my coffee with a morning kiss
Soften my dreams with your sigh
Tell me you love me for a million years
Then if it don't work out
If it don't work out
Then you can tell me goodbye

IF you must go I won't grieve
If you'll wait a lifetime
Before you leave

If you must go no I won't grieve
If you'll wait a lifetime
Before you leave
Them if you must go mmmm I won't tell you no
Just so that we can say we tried (we tried)
Tell me you love me for a million years
Then if it don't work out
If it don't work out
Then you can tell me goodbye

21. Twilight Time -- The Platters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNFMTMLu2Gk

Heavenly shades of night are falling, it's twilight time
Out of the mist your voice is calling, 'tis twilight time
When purple-colored curtains mark the end of day
I'll hear you, my dear, at twilight time

Deepening shadows gather splendor as day is done
Fingers of night will soon surrender the setting sun
I count the moments darling till you're here with me
Together at last at twilight time

Here, in the afterglow of day, we keep our rendezvous beneath the blue
And, in the same and sweet old way I fall in love again as I did then

Deep in the dark your kiss will thrill me like days of old
Lighting the spark of love that fills me with dreams untold
Each day I pray for evening just to be with you
Together at last at twilight time

29. First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Written by Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who later became his wife.

First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the empty skies, my love,
To the dark and the empty skies.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
And felt your heart beat close to mine
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command.

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last till the end of time my love
It would last till the end of time my love

39. Like A Stone - Audioslave
There are too many, but this one popped into my head.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4rd6i2kmm4

on a cobweb afternoon
in a room full of emptiness
by a freeway i confess
i was lost in the pages
of a book full of death
reading how we'll die alone
and if we're good we'll lay to rest
anywhere we want to go

in your house i long to be
room by room patiently
i'll wait for you there
like a stone i'll wait for you there
alone

on my deathbed i will pray
to the gods and the angels
like a pagan to anyone
who will take me to heaven
to a place i call
i was there so long ago
the sky was bruised
the wine was bled
and there you led me on

in your house i long to be
room by room patiently
i'll wait for you there
like a stone i'll wait for you there
alone

and on i read
until the day was gone
and i sat in regret
of all the things i've done
for all that i've blessed
and all that i've wronged
in dreams until my death
i will wander on

44. "Now and Then" by Gordon Lightfoot
Couldn't find a clip of him singing it on youtube, so this will have to do:

Now And Then

I think this time you've said enough to make me want to leave this place
Still I keep coming back for more of the same to fan the dying flame
Here inside these walls that seem to move a little closer every day
There must be a way out of this crazy game we play out to the end
Let us just pretend a while
Think about the good things now and then
I think this time that was the best time that we two had ever known
We tried the handle of the house upon the shore and found the open door
Once inside we found a curious moonbeam doing dances on the floor
We were only playing like two children who had stayed away from school
Two of us could not be wrong
Heaven knows who keeps the golden rule

I think this time we've learned enough to know that nothing is the same
But still the pounding of my heart hasn't changed and leavin's so strange
Here among my thoughts of you I find a gentle longing to be free
There must be a way out of this crazy game we play out to the end
Take away the in-between
Think about the good things now and then
We will see the day when you or I will stay or face up to the end
Let us just pretend a while
And think about the good things now and then

Edited on Fri Jun-19-09 11:38 PM by Iggo
I think maybe I heard a version by Dinah Washington (or maybe Nancy Wilson) way back in the wayback?

It ends real huge: "Never ever to knoooooooooow. How...I...loved Youuuuuuuuuuu. If I.....lo-oved yoouuuuuuuuuuuuuuu..."

Wow I haven't heard that one in...maybe decades!!

(EDITED TO ADD: Four "maybes? Yikes!)

Here's You'll Never Walk Alone

When you walk through a storm
Heep your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on,
with hope in your heart,
And you'll NEVER WALK ALONE,
You'll NEVER WALK ALONE!

If I loved you
Time and again I would try to say
All I'd want you to knoooow

If I loved you
Words would't come in an easy way
Round in circles...I'd goooooo

Longin' to tell you
but afraid and shy
I'd let my golden chances
PAAAAASS MEEEEE BYYYYYYYYY

Soon you'd leave me
Off you would go in the midst of day
Never, never to KNOOOOOOOOOOW
HOOOW I LOVED YOUUUUUUUU

If
I
Loved youuuuuuuuu

90. "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 08:25 PM by cherish44
This is a great wedding song...it was played at mine, I cried.

Longer than thereve been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than thereve been stars up in the heavens
Ive been in love with you.

Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I am in love with you.

Ill bring fires in the winters
Youll send showers in the springs
Well fly through the falls and summers
With love on our wings.

Through the years as the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow
Ill be in love with you.

Longer than thereve been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than thereve been stars up in the heavens
Ive been in love with you
I am in love with you..

93. Attics of My Life - Hunter/Garcia
In the attics of my life
Full of cloudy dreams unreal
Full of tastes no tongue can know
And lights no eye can see
When there was no ear to hear
You sang to me

I have spent my life
Seeking all that's still unsung
Bent my ear to hear the tune
And closed my eyes to see
When there were no strings to play
You played to me

In the book of love's own dream
Where all the print is blood
Where all the pages are my days
And all my lights grow old
When I had no wings to fly
You flew to me

You
flew
to me

In the secret space of dreams
Where I dreaming lay amazed
When the secrets all are told
And the petals all unfold
When there was no dream of mine
You dreamed of me

101. When I Fall In Love - Nat King Cole
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h649I7ETaHI

short, sweet, any person can sing this song and not have to adjust the lyrics. Mr. Cole certainly know how to write a song.

When I fall in love
it will be forever
Or Ill never fall in love
In a restless world like this is
Love is ended before its begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun

When I give my heart it will be completely
Or Ill never give my heart
And the moment I can feel that you feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you.

<instrumental interlude first two lines>

And the moment I can feel that you feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you.
