Tenn. couple accused of assault using Cheetos

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. -Authorities said a couple got into a fight using Cheetos. The Bedford County Sheriff's Department said a 40-year-old man and 44-year-old woman became involved in a 'verbal altercation.' Somehow, the orange puffy snacks were used in the assault.

Deputies said they were charged with domestic assault. No one was hurt.
According to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette, both posted bond of $2,500.

rather than just chowin' down on them? These people clearly have screwed up priorities.

If I throw a cheeto at someone it's not gonna hit the target much less leave a mark. My cheeto assault skills are zero, I must be a loser!

If they can't explain how Cheetos were involved then they should've held the story till they could. My guess is that because it was a 'verbal altercation' that one or both parties arranged Cheetos to form abusive words and then showed said words to the other party. I suspect this is just stealth advertising for Cheetos because this really doesn't amount to a news story.

Probably some 20 year old twit out of marketing sk00l made that too. I mean, he gots my attention: I'm gonna buy the economy sized warehouse 2-pak at Sham's Club...

Gee, can't they say "20% more chips" instead of the sterile robot term?

I have a feeling it is probably similar to a situation my police officer friend was involved in a few years ago. He was sent to a house for a domestic abuse call. It was a family that is notorious for domestic calls. The husband liked to drink and beat his wife, but she would never press charges. It became very frustrating for the police because they would have to go to the house multiple times a week and sometimes multiple times in a night.

To make a long story short, my friend was trying to diffuse the situation and the husband picked up a Big Mac that was laying on the kitchen table, and threw it at his wife striking her in the head. My friend immediately arrested the man for assault, and hauled him off to jail.

This couple has probably been a nuisance to the police for some time now, and this Cheetos assault is probably their way of finally being able to make domestic abuse charges stick.
