how can you tell if your kitteh can not see well?
last summer we adopted a cat from a shelter. We believe he is 3/4 years old...

VERY loving

VERY vocal

when he is not around anyone he is loud loud loud...when he is with someone he purrs like crazy and is quiet

hubby has theorized that he can't see well and when he is vocal he is looking for people

makes sense to me...

what say you?

2. Have him examined by a vet, he could determine any visual impairment.
It appears kitty wants and likes to have people around, and he has learned that when he is vocal about it, you respond.

Some cats do have separation anxiety.

In my non-professional opinion, it looks like he has you well trained.

4. Are his eyes that cloudy in real life, or is that an artifact of the photo?

6. What was the light like when you caught this pic?
His pupils seem very dilated; if the light was bright, it shouldn't be like this, but yes, the vet will tell you while everyone on DU (myself included) just will make random guesses. Let him be checked out by a veterinarian.

7. I don't remember...the light was probably from the camera which was too close
his eyes are not like that normally...

they are very clear and he seems to look right at me

I am leaning more towards the seperation thing... he is most vocal when we all go to bed, yet he won't stay on our bed with us

8. No, I wasn't asking for clearness but for the pupils.
If you see him out in sunlight, his pupils should just be very narrow like here:

Being vocal has nothing to do with eyesight. But as I said, if you want to be sure and not depending on all the guessing here, see your veterinarian. I don't think there's one in the Lounge. :hi:

9. Have kitteh checked by a vet
Our dearly departed Imhotep also answered to the nickname "Nine Alarm", because he was the loudest cat in creation. His son Quark is also very talky - as a matter of fact, he's driving my s.o. nuts right now. :) Some cats just like to talk. Evie sometimes yells when she wakes up and the people who were in the room when she fell asleep are gone, but there's nothing wrong with her vision either.

put it up the walls, across the ceiling quickly - kitty's eyes should follow, along with his feet
