Anybody else have a job more stressful than it has to be?
Edited on Sun Jun-28-09 06:42 PM by Brigid
I work for a company that does inbound customer service call handling for a large telephone company. The idiots who call in are bad enough, but the bosses seem to think they're running a factory. Unnecessary overtime, unrealistic call handling times, draconian attendance policies, crappy health insurance . . . need I go on? It's no wonder they might as well install a revolving door at the employee entrance, even though the economy is in the crapper around here and has been for years. God, I dread the thought of going back to that hellhole again tomorrow. x(

And, of course, if I let off steam at home all I get is "At least you HAVE a job!". Okay, yes, I'm fortunate to have a job, but am I working to live, or living to work?

2. That's why I've always hated customer service
You're fighting with the customers AND management. And nobody ever talks to you unless you've messed up. Then they act all surprised when you give notice.

4. programming
There have been studies that indicate the stress levels when programming, particularly kernel or system driver programming, that is equal or higher than that of brain surgeons during surgery.
