There are a lot of "doctors" out there willing to make split second decisions (under 10 minute diagnosis) and start handing out pills like candy. Get a second opinion if you feel the need and research the meds they try to put you on. I've watched my sister go through this meat shredder for the last 16 years. She started out with disc pain in her neck and back and now lives a hellish life on more medications that you can shake a stick at, including methadone. Good luck.
3. A VERY long time, basicly over the course of three weeks
3 assessment session, 3.5-4 hours each session. I had 13 test run on me by Wright State University with an interview by the assessment and 4 months of information gathered by my counselor and other psychiatrist through counseling. I think it's thorough enough.
I think a proper diagnosis (and no, psychiatry isn't an art, it is science) is a good start, at least you know where you stand now and what you can do to improve your situation. :hi:
