Hey lounge! What are you drinking tonight?
I am out of the run of the mill wines, and haven't been able to make it to the store.

So I went to the cellar....

I just pulled a bottle of this:

It's absolutely delicious.

Retails about $35 but well worth it. I feel like Miles from Sideways, drinking his prized wine solo.

So tell me, what are you having tonight?

3. I'm a beer geek, and think beer is just as interesting and even more varied than wine....
so I've got a bottle of Firestone-Walker Eleven squirreled away that I'm going to crack open tonight. It's an old ale/barley wine at 11%ABV that is a blend of 5 different brews, all of them aged on oak in some way, shape or form.

$15. Found it at a little local place that didn't know what they had.
They also had some imports that were WAYYYYYYY past their "best by" dates, so it's buyer beware at that place. Still, there are some real finds there on occasion.

16. Oxnard. A place called the Liquor Cellar.
Back when I was in high school, we all joked it should be called "The Liquor Seller", because they'll sell to anyone tall enough to slap money on the counter.

So is Blind Pig

On tap, in a bottle - the only caveat is that it has to be fresh. Mine was bottled on 6/22.

;)

Therefore, I'm drinking water for now, but I'm getting together w/ a girlfriend for dinner in a couple hrs and I'm sure much wine-drinking will ensue.

26. sounds interesting.
I haven't had vodka in a long time - no particular reason, just usually stick to wine and beer.

But that sounds like it would be tasty. I might try it.

31. Unleavened vodka?

I suppose, you could argue that potatoes, since they are not wheat, can be fermented and drunk during Passover, since they would not break the ban on consuming leavened bread during Passover.

27. Shiraz-viognier? What does it taste like?
The only time I had viognier I thought it was like drinking perfume (and not in the good way) and I think of shiraz as being toward the heavier end of the reds - I'd be interested to hear what they combine to...

29. 95% shiraz so the viognier is very faint.
It's beautiful!

It's a gorgeous, almost purple color. Really big with an earthy finish.

33. That sounds really good - I just googled up
an article and it's more complex than just a blend. Like you, they mention the color as being enhanced as well as taste and bouquet. I'll have to look for it...

(Your wine is listed as one of the top 5 in this article :))

34. It is very yummy...
I have about 6 cases of tasty wines down in the cellar and I hit them for a treat once in a while. The STBE left the wine when he moved out, so I really am not that familiar with what is in there. I have to remind myself to google before I open one...

I drank a 2004 Colonial Estates Exile without checking first. I later discovered it was well over $100 to replace it :wow:
