14.  ETHS grad here--but live in Albuquerque---bluish ; just got our 1st Dem congressman in decades
mayor is sort of conservadem, but also was an early Howard Dean supporter in 2004, so hard to pin down, but I'm one of the few progressives I know that think he's sort of OK -----anyway, class of '68 from ETHS...that was near the end, as I understand it, of the town still being run by old-line conservatives. I guess it turned 180 degrees not long after and seems to have been a pretty hip progressive place for many years now ( I still go back to see family every year in Skokie, Lincolnwood, Glenview...).

45. My husband works at NU. Evanston is uber-blue. That's why it's so bizarre to me that
Century Theaters would choose to support Prop 8, knowing that many of their theaters are "art" theaters in very arty, liberal areas. Of course, it seems like the Century in Evanston is still plenty busy. It used to be my favorite theater (I live in Lincoln Square) but now I avoid it on principle.

Everybody here's a democrat. Even the thugs and thieves are democrats. The indicted and jailed and paroled politicians are all democrats. General elections are meaningless - the democratic primaries are the only real contests.

Not a republican in sight.

28. the undead have exploited a weakness in the perimeter of our "city."
it's really an encampment and we thought we were protected, but they're under the wire.

we're basically a forward rally point for fuel convoys, but they're just coming too fast and too strong.

we lost the com center and can't reach any support.

we're down to c.b.'s and smoke signals.

49. Manchester is purple
The city went narrowly for Bush in 2004, flipped to Obama in 2008, and has a majority of Dems in its legislative delegation.

The local offices are nonpartisan, but the mayor is a fairly moderate Republican, while the Board of Aldermen is heavily Democratic. This doesn't tell the whole story, though. Some of these "Democrats" are only "liberal" when it comes to spending money on city employee raises; several of them played duck and cover when asked to help the Obama ticket last fall. By contrast, the two Dems seen as fiscally conservative were outspoken in their support of the Democratic ticket.
