If you own or want to buy a VW, read this:
We inherited a 200 Passat when my MIL died, and have been using it for about1 1/2 years. It suddonly becag running very rough and at about half power, but we were able to get it home and parked. It would not start and there was NO electrical power in the car.
We had just had it at a VW dealer a few days before for recall parts replacement.
Our garage towed it in, replaced the battery and a cam sensor, but it will not start and they cannot find the problem - for over 3 weeks now.

I checked Google for VW problems and found we were not alone. VW had a great reputyation, and evidently they have chosen to screw the owners and make cars with inherent problems and poor design features and then not cover these repairs under warranty or even inform owners about the problems. See this link, please, and understand it continues for 10 pages!!!!!:

I have owned several VW's over the years, but I will never buy another one, and we are getting rid of this one if we can ever get it running again.

FYI.
