I clicked on a few in GD and all that text made me want to look away.

1. My dear rcrush...
When they get that big, I normally read only the original post...

Then I might scan the responses, looking for any friends of mine who might be there...

Otherwise, I might read the few first responses...till I get the trend of the thread.

Then, I'm gone!

:hi:

2. If a thread in GD has over 500 replies you know some sh*t went down.
At least 400 of those 500 replies are most likely "Are not! / Are too!" responses too.

3. Probably not. The OP has been worn out from over reading,
no doubt. Instead, choose threads with few views, so you don't read the old, worn-out ones.

4. If a thread has over 500 replies, it probably wasn't worth reading in the first place

5. If I have a long afternoon with nothing else to do, then yes. Otherwise
it's not really worth sorting through a hugh flamewar.

7. I once started a thread in GD that had over 800 replies
I had just started at DU and, in retrospect, it was more of a Lounge question than a GD question, but people kept responding for over a week. After a while, I didn't even want to look at it anymore; it took too much time to scroll through. But I have to admit that it was cool seeing my name at the top of the heap in GD for so long!

8. What about a thread with nearly 2,500 replies??
I put it on hide, because it would not even load and she would not FREE THE DUCK!
