Vibes, please....

Two weeks ago, the 11 year old daughter of my wife's cousin had a seizure while swimming in a lake at a church camp. She was under the water for a minute or two before being rescued by a lifeguard, who performed CPR on her. While being airlifted to a hospital, she suffered a cardiac arrest, which was reversed by the air ambulance personnel.

Now, two weeks later, there is significant brain damage, caused by anoxia, and she is in a semi-comatose state. There appears to be some consciousness of her surroundings, and she's successfully being weaned off the ventilator, but the prognosis is very guarded and nobody is able to say where things will lead for her.

She's getting a surgically-implanted feeding tube on Monday and is being moved to another hospital for long term care and therapy.

Her parents are quite religious, and are hoping for some sort of miracle to restore her consciousness. I'm not as optimistic, I'm afraid, and this is obviously a devastating thing for the entire family.

So, if you're of a praying bent, please send prayers for this child and her family. If you're not, please think about her and her family and wish them the very best possible outcome. I know they'll appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

And I will pray for them to whatever powers that may be.

I'm not of the praying bent, but I am of the collective consciousness bent, and sure will be sending light to your wife's cousin's little girl and all who love her.
