Quick music quiz...
Name a song that has Lauren Bacall mentioned.

Hint: the one I'm thinking about is from the '80s, there may be others.

1. Key Largo mentions her last name.
If it's her full name, I have no idea.

2. Ok, this is from a 1982 release.
The band is originally from Britain, very well selling album with many hits, but this song is less popular. Category: punk rock.

3. And here are the actual lyrics for that section
I thought I saw Lauren Bacall
I thought I saw Lauren Bacall
Hey fellas, Hey fellas?
Lauren Bacall!

(from memory, should be close though)

5. Okay, I could probably Google the answer, but
better to be honest and fair. If it's a punk song, I have no idea and no chance of getting it right.

6. You get the gold star!!
This album, Combat Rock by the Clash, was considered too 'arty' by the critics, but I loved it.

No one had a voice like Strummer, nor will there ever be.

Don't forget 'Death Is a Star' or any of the other lesser known gems from this release either.

8. This and Straight to Hell are my two faves from it, but yeah, the whole album is great
I'll always regret never having seen The Clash, but at least I did get to see Joe with The Mescaleros in 1999. He was 47 by then of course ( so was I, come to think of it), but still as powerful and mesmerizing a performer as I've ever seen...

7. Here are the full lyrics
Tonight they're closing up the world
n' sweeping smoke from cigarettes
And what is that funky multi-national
Anthem rocking from a thousand
King Kong cassette decks
Then this shyboy from Missouri
Boots blown off in a '60s war
Riding aluminium crutches
Now he knows the welfare kindness n'
Agent Orange color blindness
As he works from door to door
The violence in the carpets
The arrows of his wife
Drives the slum-bum dweller
To grind his hunting knife
In homesteads of cigar box
Radios hive like bees
The body in the ice
Box has no date for freeeeeze

CHORUS
In a car jam

Selling is what selling sells
But only saints of the 7 avenues can sell
The seven hells
Fanning out the drug afflicted leperizing zone
Once inside the executive
never leaves his home
Gorillas drag their victims
Hyenas try to sue
Snakes find grass in concrete
There is no city zoo
By ventilation units where towers
Meet the streets
The ragged stand in bags
Soaking heat up through their feet
This was the only kindness
And it was accidental too

CHORUS

Now shaking single engined planes
Traffik-king stereos from Cuba
Buzzed the holy zealot mass

And drowned out Missa Luba
And drowned out Missa Luba

I thought I saw Lauren Bacall
I thought I saw Lauren Bacall
I swear,
Hey fellas, hey fellas
Lauren Bacall

In a car jam
Yeah I don't believe it
In a car jam
positively absolutely?

CHORUS
