Techies, I need help. My computer is taking over.
Truthfully something happened and I can't stay off-line. People are complaining because they can't get through to me, because unknown to me my computer has dialed up my ISP, putting itself on line when there is no one there. I have done START/CONTROL PANEL/INTERNET OPTIONS. I have gone through all the tabs making sure the settings are where I want them and yet, computer won't stay off-line while I have my screen up. I use Windows XP. Any help is appreciated.

2. I have done that.
It stays off when it's off, but sometimes even when I want to work off-line and I am doing something on my WP, it dials up without me asking it to. Also I leave it on and walk away to do something and when I come back to my desk it's back on line.

4. Do a virus scan. Then
uninstall all the downloaded shareware stuff you've installed-- there's a possibility an unauthorized spyware proggie has taken over-- it's not necessarily going to be something you were aware of installing, because they like to play that hidden program game, and it can mess a computer up big time.
