Products that you like more than the big name brand
Giant (grocery store) steak sauce comes to mind. Unlike A1, it has no preservatives, and it tastes better IMO.

1. Aldi's house brand crunchy peanut butter.
Actually tastes like peanuts, and not some tasteless brown paste with peanut oil mixed in.

3. Damn near all of them.
I have to admit, there are a few name brands I prefer, but for the most part I go with the store brand.

4. mostly I prefer off brands because they are almost always cheaper
with no discernible difference in taste or quality. you do have to watch the weights/prices on everything.

Alcohol is one big exception. I don't think there is a name brand in the house at the moment except q-tips oh and c & h brown sugar. maybe I should go post in the other thread.:P

5. Hannaford's potato chips
Now that they've cut back on the salt a bit, they are much better than the name brands.

6. Powdered coffee creamer
The store and bargain brands are invariably cleaner tasting than the name brands. Cremora has a kind of aspirin aftertaste to me.

12. Spices.
The "name brands" have usually been sitting around too long, and are almost flavorless.

19. Commercial steak sauce I would agree
However, a pan sauce made after cooking the steak is something quite nice.
