Please send some good vibes to my 6 year old niece who is in surgery.

Hello friends, my 6 year old niece is in surgery right now. She was born with a bone issue in one of her legs and the leg doesn't grow as fast as the other, so she has to have "limb extending" surgery. Basically they cut her leg bone all the way through and then install a "fixator" that attaches to both sides of the cut, as it heals they slowly pull the two pieces apart so the bone fills in the gap, making the bone longer. The surgery is happening right now, and over the next 6 months they will be slowly extending the bone as it heals. We are hoping and praying that the surgery goes well and that she doesn't experience much pain over the next few days, weeks, and months until the fixator can be removed. She is a very sweet and brave little girl. Her name is Tali. If anyone wants to send her some good vibes I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

I just got a call from Tali's mom (my sister). The surgery is over and went well. Tali is still asleep and should wake up in about an hour.

Thank you all... and please continue to send good wishes that the next 6 months with the fixator are pain-free.

Even then, it's not over. She has to have this procedure done at least 3 times and probably 4 times until she stops growing. This is her 2nd time. She's such a tough girl.

As a father of a 6 year old, I can sympathize.

Always tough for a child that age to face anything like this, though often their bravery far surpasses us adults.

I don't know how it's possible that something like that wouldn't be painful, but I hope somehow it isn't. I really hope she can avoid the pain. :hug:
