Jon & Kate Plus 8' ratings plummet

S-JON-GOSSELIN-large "Jon & Kate Plus 8" returned to TLC on Monday night after a month’s hiatus.

And — yawn — no one seemed to care.

Us Weekly reports that the back-to-back episodes brought in less than half the audience of the previous show, which had announced their much ballyhooed separation.

Last night's first half hour with Kate Gosselin and the kids vacationing and Jon Gosselin supervising kitchen renovations (wow — exciting stuff) drew only 3.9 million viewers. The following episode, with Kate camping with the kids without Jon, was watched by 4.1 million.

Both episodes were also down significantly from the May 25 premiere, which brought in 9.8 million viewers.

If you do the math, this means the ratings dropped 61%.

Are you surprised?

Hey, you don’t think Jon’s dalliances with Hailey Glassman and Star reporter Kate Major, getting buddy-buddy with Michael Lohan in the Hamptons, hanging out in St. Tropez with designer Christian Audigier and the new rumors about his overnight nude model babysitter have anything to do with this slump, do ya?

4. The ratings are still up though from their pre-scandal ratings,
which were already good for TLC.

Unfortunately, this mess is going to be on tv for quite awhile still cause there's still plenty of milk in this bosom (pardon the metaphor).

5. Ugh. I only saw this show once prior to the scandal and was revolted by this couple.
I hope they've invested wisely for the future of their children, because I don't think their cash cow of a show is going to last.

6. Those two are a couple of shameless media whores - generating their
income on the backs of their children who have no say. It's disgusting and wrong.

8. perhaps people don't want to see a family falling apart
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 12:13 PM by dugaresa
when it was about a couple struggling to raise 6 toddlers and 2 older girls, it was cute (although the two parents are not so cute)

but watching a family fall apart, i don't think so.

9. yeah, I feel bad for all of them
I've actually missed the show - I think I liked it because I could sit there and think, thank god that's not me with sextuplets and twins!

Plus the kids are very cute.

11. for the life of me I don't understand the fascination with these kinds of shows
Seems like such wasted time to watch other people's lives when we should be working on our own.

ESPECIALLY when they're self centered jerks who had no business having kids in the first place. Who needs exposure to that crap?
