anyone else watch this new SyFy series, Warehouse 13?
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 10:06 PM by charlie and algernon
It's kinda like a poor man's X-Files with two Secret Services hunting down supernatural relics. It actually works, the agents have good chemistry and Saul Rubinek is great as the guy running the Warehouse where the relics are stored. I think it's funny that SyFy (SciFi) has always done great TV shows, but absolutely sucks at making movies.

3. I hope it lasts for a while
I'd like to see them flesh out where these relics are coming from and to show more of the relics already inside the warehouse.

5. If you have Comcast, the pilot and all the episodes are in "TV Series."

10. I've got Time Warner
It should show up in "On Demand" this weekend, if it's not there already. :)

If not, I can catch the re-air Tuesday before the new show.

16. Five episodes are also available on Hulu, including the pilot
The poor man's X-Files combined with Friday the 13th the Series, combined with a little bit of SciFi, erm SyFy goofiness is a good description for the show.

7. I really like the premise, but have found each episode kinda
disappointing. Like Tuesday's ending - what the hell? All this interesting run up, and it ends like that?

I'll keep watching b/c I like the idea of it, and Rubinek and the others are good characters but the story resolutions (the stupid magic comb hypnotizing people in the first episode?) are pissing me off. It's like the writers come up with an interesting premise, but don't know how to wrap it up at the end of the hour and just chicken out with special effects at the end.

8. Remember "Friday the 13th, the Series"? This...
is a neat update on an old idea. Problem is with the endings, as others have noticed-- the writers just can't wrap up an episode without supending disbelief over a cliff.

Still, It's a lot of silly fun, like most SciFi (SyFy, if you insist) series are. Like "Eureka," it's got all sorts of neat stuff and characters, but refuses to take itself too seriously.

9. Yeah. I'm really enjoying it.
Not only is it scratching a very specific gaming itch of mine, the main characters are a nice, fresh take on the Scully-Mulder/buddy-cop pairing. The stories are decent, and the acting is good. It's a good mystery tease. C. C. H. Pounder was inspired casting.

12. I enjoyed the pilot
I don't have cable, so I haven't seen the other episodes.

While the characters were more than a bit derivative of Scully and Mulder (and Scully was hotter :loveya: ), the funky steampunk vibe and general sense of goofy weirdness was fun.

Check hulu.com to see if they have all 4 episodes (series premier was 2 hours).

ETA there have been 5 and they're all on hulu.

17. I wasn't into the pilot, but I'm warming up to it as they get the kinks worked out
The storyline and acting in the pilot were terrible, but my son liked the show enough to flag the series on the DVR. Second episode was better than the first, third episode was better than the second, and now it's actually starting to grow on me. I was really glad to see that Claudia is now a full time character. One of my big problems with W13 is that all of the characters are rather predictable. She adds an inpredictability to the show.

Plus, I'm a huge fan of the idea that the smartest person on the show is a good looking young woman. It's a direct slap in the face to the stereotype that all smart people are either men or nerdy-girls in coke bottle glasses. The idea that you can be both cool AND smart doesn't get much traction in our society, and shows like this can only help.

19. I wish the actress playing Myka wouldn't use so much collagen in her upper lip.
I know, I know. Minor complaint but she looks like she's gotten punched in the mouth once too often.
It's distracting.
