(my favorite)

edited to add, I also love Walker's solo in Foreigner's Urgent - makes the entire song worth listening to.

5. Jr Walker --what great soulful music, both the rockers and the ballads
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 03:15 AM by abq e streeter
I had the privilege of seeing him a couple of times. I was with an old friend ( also a sax player) of his at one of those shows, but he wasn't able to get me backstage with him to meet Jr. Oh well, it was an honor to just see him play and sing. There was recently a lounge thread asking people to list their favorite all-time artists in alphabetical order, whether top ten or top 100. ( I think I cheated with about 110). I had Junior right there between Tom Waits and Muddy Waters.

7. Here's my favorite Jr. tune. "Roadrunner"
He recorded for Motown but he played like he was a Stax artist.
