2. Even though all the scenes in "Barry Lyndon" are beautiful, like paintings,
there's nothing flashy at all about the film, the acting, music is understated but he just does such a damn good job putting together a film. The way the tension slowly builds in the climactic duel is incredible.

I don't like how cold and aloof Kubrick can seem in his brilliance sometimes, but it works perfectly in this film.
