"Generations" A new poem...
I look into my brother’s face
And there I see
My dad

From long ago
When he was prime
And young,
Strong and smart

The steady gaze
The strength of mind
The upright stance
The way he thought
All those years ago

And I wonder how
These ideas work
And why

How we evolve
yet continue on
The way we did
In years gone by.

How do we know
What will work
Are there words
That come to us
somehow sent
from each to each?

Does the grace of the fathers flow
Into their sons?

I look into my brother’s face
And there I see
My dad...

4. Your poems are getting better CaliforniaPeggy
They were already of a high standard to begin with so that's quite an impressive achievement but your last poem and now this one are just remarkably amazing beyond words -some of the best poetry I have ever read.

A very nice philosophical touch to this poem as well -I always like poem with a lot of deep thought and some pause for reflection and this one absolutely excels in that category.

Well done and keep it up:yourock:

7. My dear RFKHumphreyObama!
I am overwhelmed!

I truly and sincerely thank you...

And this poem is based on true events. I was in Minneapolis weekend before last, for my nephew's wedding, and I reconnected with my brother and his family.

I was really struck by how much my brother reminded me of my dad, and that was where it all started...

Thank you so much, sweetie...

9. some really good phrasing in here
"From long ago
When he was prime
And young,
Strong and smart

The steady gaze
The strength of mind
The upright stance
The way he thought"

that really flows.

10. My dear Tuesday Afternoon...
Sometimes I get a little cadence going, a little rhythm...

I'm always happy when I do...I don't seem to have any control over when it appears, though...

I appreciate your thoughtful comments, as always, sweetie...

11. Dearest Peggy...
I wept. That was beautiful...

Does the grace of the fathers flow
Into their sons?

I see my son's father often...his tone of voice, a sideward glance..It's there.
And he is a quiet one, with quiet strength.
I did not know his father before he went to Vietnam.
His brother told me how the war changed him..He was a different man...
Perhaps before he went to war he was also a quiet one with quiet strengh...I'd like to think so.
And so life goes on...

Thank you for touching my heart with your gift.
How beautiful for you to see your father in your brother's face...

Sweet dreams....

peace~
