I'm starting to get nervous
I posted this yesterday ...First photo is Friday evening...second photo is Saturday morning. Third (which I just added is this morning). Mind you, the entrance to this "nest" is about a foot in diameter now and I am starting to freak. I still haven't got a good look at this "bee/wasp", whatever.
:scared:

4. looks like a gopher hole to me
Maybe you saw a bumble bee or tarantula hawk go in there but that much dirt looks like a rodent to me.

I have a couple in my yard, they're cool. Me and Dropkid watch them through the summer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_cicada_killer

8. Spot on.
That is exactly what it is.(I found out today) I can't believe how big an area one wasp can dig. I am freaked out by it. Swear to God...the dirt scattered is a foot in diameter. My daughter came over tonight after work and she saw the same pictures I posted here. When she actually saw how big it was with the hole off to the side her jaw dropped. I'm telling you, I grew up on a 400 acre dairy farm and I never saw this sort of thing. As scary as it is, it really is amazing. Big enough for a small rabbit to get in.
