My mom is going to make an appointment for me and my sister to get tested for Hepatitis C.
My mom found out a while ago the she has Hepatitis C(she may have got it from my dad or a tattoo she got) and she does not know how long she has had it.So me and my sister have to go and make sure we do not have it.

2. Try not to let yourself get too worried.
The mother to child transmission rate isn't even 5%. My Mom has Hep C. We don't know for sure but she's pretty certain she contracted it many years before I was born. Neither I nor my younger sister have Hep C.

7. This can work out okay. Your mom telling you is huge. She loves you.
Getting through this can be a hard a hard thing. You are doing the right thing. Good for your mom, for telling you. Big hug, sweetheart. .

10. Try not to worry.
Edited on Tue Aug-18-09 05:33 AM by laylah
I was diagnosed 3 years ago and we figure I contracted it from blood transfusions I had when my first kiddo was born in 1981 and blood testing was not being done. Nothing else would explain it. Both my children, and their dad, have tested negative.

edited to add yes your mom does love you very much to tell you this. it was one of the hardest things i ever had to tell my girls and their dad but there was no way i could let them NOT get tested.
