Brett Favre signing with MN Vikings
http://www.startribune.com/

I can't believe it, he managed to drama-queen-up one more time and shock me again. I find his attitude tiresome, but the prsospect of him on the Vikings this year....

Should I go out and get a purple number 4 jersey?

1. A week or two ago, I thought he backed down and this dreary drama was over with?!
Apparently not.

Vikes are wasting their money for this self-aggrandizing, pig-headed, sexy loser.

15. It's going to be a bit more than that.
Reports are that it will be a one year deal for $12 million.

35. $12 million? That's insanely too much.
For the manager's sake, I hope it's loaded with performance-based incentives, but it probably isn't (a self-centered veteran like Favre would consider that an insult...)

I'm not a Packers fan, but I used to respect Brett Favre. Why would you ruin one of the best reputations in football for one more chance to prove just how far past your prime you are?

14. Two weeks ago I was convinced that the whole episode was a "sleeper" op
run by the Packers to screw with the Vikings one last time. Now it is clear he just didn't want to go through a training camp.

I've kind of noticed that his performance is still pretty damn good; until he has to play in the cold. IF the Vikings had an outdoor stadium, we wouldn't be having this discussion. My take is that Favre is hoping/planning that with him under center the Purple have a god chance to secure home field advatage through the play-offs and the Super Bowl isn't in the cold.

His play the last two years has been good enough in the warm part of the season that the above scnario is at least a possibility.

The one thing that is certain: The Vikings are going to be getting a lot more attention this year. Maybe for good reasons, maybe bad--who could possibly know?

PS On the pure plus side, at least he doesn't have a history of dog fighting, just being a megalomaniac!

He flew on Zygi Wilf's private jet (The one with a VIkings logo on its tail) to St. Paul and was met at the airport by Childress and other team officials. The Vikings practice has even been pushed back to allow Favre to make it.

When I saw the report online I actually cursed out loud from the shock, but it is happening.

20. Not that. I mean the fact that so many people believe the media's drama over this.
They started the whole "Will he retire?" crap without a word from him, and when he said nothing about it, they played it up like he was waffling. When he was forced out by the Vikings, they played it up even more. Follow the real story and Favre's not a drama queen, it's the damn media manipulating people. Same thing they did to convince everyone Gore was a liar or Kerry an opportunist.

19. I disagree
We've had at least four offseasons with Brett tearfully saying that he doesn't know if he's coming back because he has nothing in the tank; his "retirement" nonsense before last season with the Packers only upped the ante. He waffled about this move for a while, and it looks like he upped the drama simply to either get more money or avoid training camp. Possibly both.

21. Bull. The media created this crap, pure and simple.
They turned "No comment" from Favre into a drama. Typical shit. Every NFL player in their late 30s acts about the same as Favre did. This was all the media's need for a story. People are too easily fooled. That's why we wind up with people like Ronald Reagan and Jay Cutler.

29. I'm sure Favre will be hung in effigy when the vikes come to Lambeau.
He won't get a very good reception.

OTOH, the new 3-4 scheme sounded good Last Saturday. Hopefully, the first Packer to pick off Favre will sign the ball and send it to him!

I just wish I had money on this. When he walked away a couple of weeks ago I knew it was drama. He just will not deign to go to training camp and live in a dorm with the mortals. I know he would be too coy by half until it was over.

36. Yeah this whole thing is very humorous.
The developments surrounding this whole thing have been laughable. Hmm... Brett Farve had pancakes for breakfast! Let's analyze the different types of syrup he used to see if it determines whether or not he'll play again!

But yeah I wish I had money on it too.

I've had the Vikings pull the rug out from under me too many times to care whether they win or lose, but I'll watch the Green Bay defense play against Favre. Hope they don't take his head off.

32. I am 1/2 of a Vikings / Eagles household
I agree with you on the first half. On the second half, not so much. I would say that the Vikings don't have the strongest QB, but Favre will put butts in seats until they find a new starting QB. Or, you could be right considering, they really want a new stadium badly and they are hoping for a championship bargaining chip. Or, it could be both of those reasons.

Play "The tale of the Edmond Fitzgerald" in November in the second half of the game.

Ads for the Viking/Packers game will be costly, it will have one hell of a viewing audience.

Those who love Favre and those who love to hate him and those that will watch it like a NASCAR race, waiting for a wreck.
