What did you have for breakfast today?
For me it was a squash blossom omelet with ranchera sauce.

Fresh picked blossoms from the garden.

Any day that begins like today, is a great day!

18. I did not make it. A local teacher has children with Celiac
(like me) and he has mastered the art of making delicious gluten-free goodies so he has started selling them.

www.tomsglutenfreegoodies.com

He told me he uses a variety of flours, like rice and potato, and he uses xanthum gum (needed to act like the "glue" since the gluten protein is not present). I do make some gluten-free baked goods but I am not very good at it.

He grew the zucchini in his garden and his kitchen is totally gluten-free so no risk of cross contamination.

He baked the loaf yesterday and delivered it to me fresh. It is delicious!!!

I ordered a gluten-free peach cobbler for this weekend.

42. Oh, that sucks!
What about the "cold" water temp? Can you take a cold shower to cool off?

I know in the summer here, the "cold" water often gets well into the 80s. You can almost take a hot shower without using any extra energy ;)

45. I used to hail from Houston
Lived there for 20 years. I know what you mean.

The cold water here is about 62 degrees, even in the hottest months. But if you take a cold shower you will never manage to dry off. The air is so humid, you will be getting condensation on your body as you try to towel off.

That's what happens in the mornings, all through July and August.

Something that evaporates but not with a "heating" effect like BioFreeze.
Or get an ice-pack, put it on top of your head, sit on it, or soak your feet only :)

32. They taste yummy
like squash, but with a firmer texture.

Hard to describe.

There are a lot of Mexican recipes involving squash blossoms, in particular, quesadillas.

"Squash blossoms are a treat generally unavailable to all but home gardeners and habitués of farmers markets. They’re so extraordinarily perishable that few supermarkets bother trying to keep them in stock."
