How prevalent is voodoo in the southeastern U.S.?
Like in the Gullah-Geechee culture and Louisiana and elsewhere. I want to see some. Where should I go? And I don't just mean the voodoo museum in N.O.

oh and John Stossel is a douchebag.

4. The lowcountry is a strange and beautiful place...
but the widespread poverty throughout the area can be depressing.
I remember even during the boom of the 90s, the unemployment rate hovered around 16%.

8. We have root doctors up here in Virginia.
maybe I should seek it out up here. Come to think of it, down in Virginia Beach, in the rural, swampy southern part of the city around Pungo, we used to see this guy walking around on the side of the road that we dubbed "The Stick-man", wondering if he might have been a practitioner.

14. oh crap...
I've gone and done it again. UFO religions it is for me then. First, their followers aren't as scary. Plus, you can over power them with ease. Their diet: low protein gruel served in a sensory deprivation tank.

15. At Halloween in NO
One of the big local Vodou manbos usually holds a public ritual. Otherwise, events themselves tend to be private affairs, if that's what you mean by wanting to "see some."
