Paint question.
We have a desk here that came with the house. I think the finish may be formica or some kind of similar coating. The inside appears to be pressed wood. My daughter wrote all over it with permanent marker and I can't get it all the way off so I would like to paint it. I am worried about painting it and then it scratching. Is there a particular type of primer and paint I should use?

1. If it's formica, Rustoleum now has a kit for painting formica countertops.
I can't see why you couldn't use it on your desk. They have this product at Lowe's for around 23 or 24 bucks.

I'm definitely thinking about doing our countertops...we don't have the money to put new ones in right now, but the formica is definitely "tired."

Let me know how you make out. Good luck!

2. Really? I didn't know that.
Thanks for that info. I'm going to check it out. We have a section of countertop that we never got around to replacing. It's in awful shape. We may end up selling the house and I'm looking for any way to make things look better for as little money as possible.
