6. Welcome! Where are you coming from?
Where will you be living?

I've been living in downtown S.J. for about 12 years now. If you have any questions or need any help, pm me.

If you are a foodie you're gonna love it here. You can get just about anything from any part of the world or any ethnic cuisine you can think of.

9. That'd be Honolulu, hence the name
which will follow me up there like the shag of a dead animal. :eyes:

I did score a nice plate of Indian lamb curry downtowm while I was up there for the interview last month.

I have an extended-stay hotel out by the airport (and work) for the first two months at least. Work wishes to move closer into town at some point in the near future, so I figure I'll find a real place once I know where I'll be going.

Figures. You're the third SJ-area DUer I've encountered so far -- all male. FAIL. :(

12. Sorry, but a sex change is just not in my immediate plans
BTW, the airport is pretty much downtown. You could walk to it from city hall.

Just take my word for it!

I do grow orchids, though, so if you miss the islands too much, I can hook you up with the local orchid scene!

7. Cool
If you fly into the San Jose airport, they might have this little ball contraption. Used to love watching it as a kid.

11. I hope your move goes well.
:)

What brings you to San Jose?

I have family there. It's a nice area. It seems like a very expensive place to live though, and it seems like you absolutely need a car to get anywhere. Not much of a pedestrian environment anywhere that I saw.

Actually, similar to the previous one, except the center up there isn't a backbiting hellhole. :eyes:

:(

hint: the Bay Area is a major center for biotechnology, etc., though most of the action is a way up 101 from me. :loveya:

26. It certainly seemed like it when I had a 45-minute layover on my way up to The City
right across from the train station is a sweet little cafe/bakery which, on a Saturday morning, was just about filled with people getting their Bay on.

But why call it "MTV"? The cable channel stopped being cool, what, twenty years ago?

22. Well, at least I won't be working in The Center That Time Forgot
the place has been in Purgatory for a full year and a half, since its director was hounded clear off the island (and I do mean "hounded", as she has a yellow Lab service dog :-) )

And if one must live on the North American continent, the Bay Area is clearly the place in which to do so.
