Good Doggie! Fetch the stick.

She goes into the woods at the edges of our property and proudly trots them back near our deck. She then chews them to mulch. Literally. (The dark spot on her tongue is a birth mark.)

This is just a taste of what she does with sticks. We sweep the mulch off several times a day.

Oh .... that white thing? That's a length of 1-1/2" nylon line with knotted and whipped ends. She chewed off the knot and then methodically and purposefully unlaid the rope to its basic strands. She stands over it, holds it with her hands .... er .... paws, and uses her front teeth to pull at each strand. She's created what can best be described as a mop head.

Good doggie.

2. Hey Kiddo!!!
The funny thing is, she never chews anything in the house. Not one thing. Ever. Little, the BC, has a bunch of squeak toys. Some of them are four or five years old and **all** of them still squeak! Big has never once even tried to chew them, even as Little squeaks them for minutes at a time. She's never chewed a shoe, a sock, nothing ..... except for washcloths that we use in the shower.

Go figure!

3. my old girl, the aussie mix (may she RIP)
hated squeakies HATED them

she would ever so carefully make a tiny one inch hole in the seam of the toy and ever so carefully remove the squeaking part, never a bit of stuffing or mess, just a plastic squeak thing.

when I'd get home she would bring me the toy and show me the rip, I would sew it up and she'd play with them and keep them for years once that nasty noise was gone.

sadly, we had to send her over Rainbow Bridge just after 4th of July this year.

Sweet Sue Z.

they are so damned smart those herding breeds eh?

5. That Rainbow Bridge ......
...... quite likely the most loving place in the universe.

When you think about all the jobs dogs do, herding requires the most thinking. I exclude from this assessment, of course, all the truly exceptional service dogs.

6. One of my mutts does squeaker surgery on toys too!
Though she is not quite so picky. Sometimes she just rips the head off to get to it.
