I hate Apple and ipods
I have a two year old Ipod that is now not working. Things should not break after 2 years; they just should not. So much for Apple being "better." That's a lot of bullshit. They suck. I will NEVER buy another Apple product as long as I live. I paid $250 for this piece of shit that now is basically a paperweight. So thanks, Steve Jobs, you scumbag.

1. Apple products seem to be hit or miss
My Iphone works great as long as they dont update anything. If they feel like updating Itunes or the Iphone software my phone will have glitches for weeks.

But my Ipod works fine?

I once had one of those AppleTV boxes and the damn thing would only sync when it felt like it. Apple products would be great if they worked like intended.

5. Now I have a shuffle that seems to work just fine
One of the older ones, not the one with the controls on the ear buds (boy, is that ever a stupid design!)

So I guess I will go back to that. I use it at the gym anyway. I am just really angry; it seems like nothing lasts anymore.

9. I bought the 3GS; the day OS 3.01 came out I upgraded. Works better...
The OS 3 development book will be arriving shortly too. :D

2. I love my Mac laptop. Had it for over 4 years now and it still runs perfectly.
Only bad thing is the small-ass hard drive but other than that I've only had a couple of things go wrong with it and they were all fixed under warranty for free. Pretty sweet actually.

4. And I have never had any serious problems with Apple products,
which I have been using for 23 years. My two-year-old iPod works fine, as does my iPhone, my 3-year-old laptop and my iMac. In all those years (starting with a Mac Plus in 1986) I have had to call tech support twice, and have made two visits to the Apple Store, once because I totally wore out a hard drive and once because the volume switch on my previous iPhone stuck. Other than that, everything has been pretty much trouble-free.

6. I've had problems with the Apple Store
Bought two ipods at the apple store that were broke within two days of using them. Took some arguing for some reason to get them to exchange it for me. The damn things just froze up on me and wouldnt do anything.

Then my friend buys a 60 gig video ipod at the store for christmas and when he opens it at home its a broken ipod with the serial number scratched off. And the Apple store manager refuses to return it and accuses my friend of trying to rip off the apple store (WTF). I've heard this same thing happen to other people at this particular apple store. I dunno wtf was going on at that store but I hope they fired the staff.

Never had any problems with them.

8. I must be extremely lucky.
In this household, we have four iPods, one 20Gb 3rd Gen, one 80Gb Classic, one iPod Touch, and one 16Gb Nano (orange) and they all work absolutely flawlessly, though the oldest one is relegated to use in the house as it's battery lasts about an hour now. I could replace it but, with the 80Gb classic holding all of my music, and all of my Mike Malloy podcasts, I don't need to.

We also have a Mac Pro and an Apple TV that also work as expected with no breakdowns.

11. What's wrong with the iPod?
Does it not turn on anymore? Did it freeze up? My iPod, which is 2-3 years old, froze up once and was fine once I reset it.

19. I am guessing the hard drive cratered.
I have tried everything- resetting, restoring. I think it is gone.

I don't know if it is because it is inherently a piece of junk or it's just that we have such a disposable society that NO ONE makes anything that lasts anymore, not even the sainted Apple.

12. Do you know how to reboot it?
Press and hold the menu and center button at the same time until the logo comes up. If that doesn't work, do that again, then connect it to your computer and choose the "Restore" option. One of those two step fixes most problems - unless the battery is dead, which is a whole 'nother pain in the ass.

14. I've had the same iPod 4th gen since 2004. Works like a champ
Sorry you're having problems, but it may not be because the product sucks. I also have a 1st gen nano, and a 1st gen iPhone too. Never had a problem with those either.

I have had just a few small problems with my Macbook, and they are wonderful about fixing them.

17. A former coworker had a ton of problems with his Mac
In the end, it cost him a lot more than all the computer problems of all my friends with PCs.

His situation might not be typical, but it let quite an impression on me.

18. Wow, sorry it's not working out for you. All my Apple stuff has run flawlessly for years.

Well, except when my laptop started getting some bad pixels on the screen. It was still under warranty and they cheerfully replaced it with an upgraded model.

I agree with the others here, google the specific problem you're having; there may be an easy fix out there.

Good luck!

20. no actually I think it is hopeless.
I plugged it in to my friend's Mac, thinking maybe it was some Windows bullshit (of which there is plenty) but, no, I think it is gone.

I have tried all the tricks and everything I could find online.

21. My husband has the same iPod he bought when they first came out. The battery
doesn't last as long as it used to but otherwise it's fine. Mine is 3 years old and works like a charm (and I use it EVERY day for at least an hour). My G4 desktop is 8 or 9 years old and still runs, although I'd need to add some memory for the latest operating system to run on it. I don't bother because my 3 year old MacBook Pro is the best machine I've ever owned and is all I need.

I'm sorry you got a bum iPod, but that doesn't make Steve Jobs a scumbag.
