1. From Alabama to New York...
that's going to involve some culture shock, for sure!

Are you starting a new career? Good luck to you, whatever the reason!

3. Very exciting!
I love NYC. I'm originally from upstate NY and live in Connecticut now, but I went to college in NYC (St. John's, in Queens). Had a great time. Always plenty of stuff to do there, lots of people to meet, and it's hard to get bored!

That's a great school. You'll get to develop your liberalism here. Dems outnumber republicans in NYC 3-1. :D

I was born in that fabulous city. Lived on Riverside Drive until I was six. Great memories.

16. Easy to be an alcoholic in NYC - cabs are designated drivers
I read a book by a young alcoholic. She said it was easy to be an alcoholic in Manhattan, because you walk outside the bar, and there's cabs ready to serve as your designated driver.

20. I just flashed on you having a Mary Tyler Moore moment
in Times Square. Throwing your beret in the air! Have a great time. Study hard. Play hard. Meet lots of cool people. Check in once in awhile to let us know what you're up to. (Stay out of the Olive Garden).

21. don't forget pix of you near the Wash. Sq Park arch, and tell all the dealers
(do they still assume you are selling or buying if you sit on the wall there?, or has that been "cleaned up" since Giuliani?), no thanks!

Best to you! I bet you are just about jumping out of your skin. I loved visiting my sister who attended there in the early 80s. It was such an exciting time and place!
