$29 "Party Passes" are a hit with fans at first football game
http://stadiumblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/08/29-party-passes-are-a-hit-with.html

Reporter Scott Farwell reports that Jerry Jones' $29 party passes are a big hit.

Caleb Smith, 22, of Dallas, was tailgating with three other friends outside the stadium. They said they could never afford to pay regular ticket prices, but this opportunity was too good to pass up.
"We could either watch it at home on a big screen and come out here and watch it on a really big screen and be part of a bigger event," he said. "It was a no-brainer."

Other party passers had a specific plan. Melissa Vicente and Jennifer Mendoza, 22-year-olds from Grand Prairie, arrived in line outside at 4 p.m. and quickly staked out the prime party pass spots on the rail as soon as the doors opened.

"We knew it would be crazy, so we came out early to claim the spots," said Vicente.
Mendoza's eyes swept the field below as she added, "Yeah, we're even alternating going to the bathroom so we don't lose this view."

2. Well, at least they can afford to get in
I have to say that is something in today's professional sports. I never thought I would say a 29 dollar ticket was a bargain.

6. "in" is a relative term here
Then again Jerry could have built a more reasonably priced stadium and charged less for the tickets and refreshments

7. This should be an interesting discussion after the Giants/Jets finish their new stadium.
If it's anything like Yankee Stadium....

8. The Giants organization was not happy to have to institute PSLs
unfortunately as Mr Mara (the co-owner of the Giants) pointed out he is in the division with the free spending Jerry and Danny boy. As such he had no choice but to institute what ever revenue generating options they could, as to stay competitive in the division. In other words the owners of the Skins and the Boys have ruined things for the rest of the league.

You can check out the new stadium here:

10. And, Mr. Jones has been able to generate lots of revenue for the league
So, it is a double edged sword. But I guess the ever altruistic Mara's are really concerned about the massive profits they make and how that's affecting their fan base. Again, I hate Jerry as owner of the Cowboys, but he has been very responsible for the increased revenues for the league.

11. "increased revenue" = "sucking the fans dry"
money has to come from some where

13. Exactly - and it happens LEAGUE WIDE
Don't think Mr. Mara isn't enjoying his piece of the pie.

9. Don't let your hate blind you.
It would be very difficult to find anywhere in the NFL where you could get a ticket for 29 bucks. I don't like Jerry, either, but come on.

12. A ticket that lets them stand in a hallway
how very generous

for the record I don't hate Jerry. I dislike him, but I would not even come close to hating him.

14. It's not a hallway - I have been to the stadium
It's actually a very nice area. There were people there for the McCartney concert Wednesday night. One I saw at work the next day, and she had a great time. Yes, she had to use the screen to see a really good shot of Macca, but the experience she said was awesome.

Before passing judgment, talk to some people who have actually been there. Let me tell you, the parking and traffic sucked tremendously. However, the building itself was incredible, and I had a great experience there.

3. $29 to not see a game live. You have to love it!
Give me a $10 minor league ticket any day.

4. It's basically the same as going to a bar with your friends.
I can't afford a football game at any price, except for maybe the high school games up the street.

5. Only there is a $29 cover charge, a charge to park and the food and beer
is even more over priced.

Better off saving one's money and gettting a nice big screen TV
