Once more into the breach with me, my dear friends...

Tomorrow, I will undergo what I really hope is the last in this series of cardiovascular tests... I will take a nuclear stress test at 10 AM PDT... It's just like an ordinary stress test: I will run on a treadmill (:scared:) in order to stress my heart... But the different thing is that I will have first been injected with a radioactive dye, which will make my veins and arteries show up on xray... So...... I would really appreciate all the good vibes you can send me! I thank you all, and I love you all, for standing by me now... :grouphug:

Maybe some doctors are like that... Mine isn't. I chose him based on what I saw when I was an RN in the hospital...he is one smart, compassionate man. Unitarian prayers are just as good as anyone's...maybe better! I was married in the Unitarian Church...:hug:

50. I stopped taking my blood pressure medicine two years ago...

...my doctor told me at the time that I was a prime candidate for a heart attack and / or stroke. The pills were around $125 for a 30-day supply, and even when I had Blue Cross (which I had to give up before I gave up the pills), they were still expensive. So in my doctor's view, I'm a dead man walking, and with the chronic, non-stop, mind-numbing stress I've shouldered in 2009, he would probably have a heart attack of his own if he examined me right now. Life's funny like that.

However, I need (and continue to take) my BP meds...I do have high blood pressure, and if I didn't take them, I'd probably be dead by now, or disabled due to a stroke... It's so wrong that your drugs were so expensive... I'm on Medicare now, and my drugs are a lot less costly. Please take care of yourself, sweetie...OK? And think of this: I used to do those tests at a small hospital in Appalachia. We had this guy with crazy-villain barbell whiskers who would inject the juice, then we'd have to rush the patients off the hamster wheel down to the loading dock by the laundry area, they'd have to climb on this bus (which we called the "glow bus"), which was a nuclear medicine bus we shared with three other hospitals (we got Thursdays), and then they'd get their pictures taken. I wish I could describe it better.

If it's the same type of radioactive dye they sometimes use in CT scans, it gives you a hot flash...whew I couldn't believe how weird it felt the first few seconds, I told my mom about it - and she said "Welcome to my world kid!" LOL!

It's amazing what they can do to fix cardiac issues these days. Even if they find an issue they should be able to fix it easy enough. It's a field that has improved leaps and bounds over the last decade or two.

they can see how well your heart muscle is getting oxygen, and you get a letter stating you're slightly radioactive for a few days (don't go to the airport without it) good luck!
