I learned two important things this weekend.
Opossums really do play dead when attacked and tattoos really do hurt.

3. Turns out I've learned two things, as well:
I thought that the plural of opossum was opossa.

And I thought that opossum was Gaelic.

7. My little dog Ed
went under one of our storage sheds and pulled one out. I thought he had killed it. It was just laying there. I started to pull it out of Ed's mouth and the damn thing jumped up and started hissing at me.

8. Oh yeah, I've been hissed at several times by possums
One time I was close enough to see the sharp little teeth. I've never actually seen one play possum. I guess I must live near ones unafraid of people (one of them came wandering up to our sliding glass door and was looking in the house!!):crazy:

12. I had one a few years ago that used to visit our deck
every night for a few months. It seemed to like being around people and would hang out with us on the deck. They are usually nomadic and only hang around in one area for a few days. I really missed it when it stopped showing up:

14. We have them all over the place
out here. Usually it's never a problem. But I guess Ed decided he was going to be a bad ass the other day. When I went back to look for her later she was gone. Hopefully she is ok. She had a few little ones with her.
