My Dinner Menu Tonight (I Was In A Cooking Mood)
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 09:37 PM by Dinger
pork chops, slowly cooked (4 hours, at LOW temp), with homemade gravy

mashed potatoes

corn on the cob

sliced tomatoes and cucumbers

homemade bread pudding for dessert, fresh out of the oven, with a big ol scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, melting just enough

There ya go.

P.S. I have some awesome leftovers! C'mon over!

4. Kinda Like This:
boneless pork chops. Sear in frying pan, with a little butter. Add some water, cook sloooooooowly. Season with salt, pepper, and a little seasoned salt.

After about 3 hours, put in roaster. Separate the water (pork juice) from the chops. Make the gravy separately. To the the pork juice add 2-3 envelopes of brown gravy, yes brown gravy mix (the envelopes), The amount of gravy depends on how many chops you have. Should be enough to cover and put on mashed potatoes later. Oh yeah, mix well about 1/2 cup water with about 2-3 tablespoons flour until gravy is thickened, and add some George Washington's for flavor. Not too much, just a few drops. Add to chops in roaster, and put in the oven at about 350 degrees for 1 hour.

5. Bread pudding! with bourbon sauce?

I've driven 70 miles out of the way (and prompted insurrection from teenagers) for the restaurant with the best bread pudding.

We gotta talk..... :loveya:

6. Just Regular Betty Crocker Bread Pudding, with Ice Cream On Top
But it's good, damn good! It's kind of "custardy" and light, fluffy.

Do you have a recipe for bourbon sauce?

7. We had a carb-fest last night!
I made Spaghetti alla Carbonara, recipe compliments of The Food Network and Anne Burrell's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/anne-burrell/spaghetti-alla-carbonara-recipe/index.html

Talk about simple, and utterly, fabulously delicious

My brother contributed garlic bread and my mother a simple salad to start the dinner with.

We left the table happy, and in carb overload.
