The dog just opened the slding glass door
and she padded into the living room, making me sigh because she is dripping blood everywhere. Soon the husband will come downstairs and ask me why the dog is in, when she is making a mess of things and really I should wait til the hottest part of the day to let her in. Well, I can't stand her whining and I certainly can't be bothered to get up and put her back out- i haven' posted on DU in a long time. Besides, when we got her we knew dogs are messy and they take work. Ok, I'm the one who brought her home over some protest from the husband, who had legitimate concerns, but people are abandoning animals right and left here, and animal lover that I am, how could I not do my bit to help? I now understand why there are so many Salukis in shelters here, though. They are not particularly pleasant pups, although this one is sweet, in her way. If you don't mind the sudden mood swings and a messy heat and neighbors complaining about the barking and the food aggression and chewed shoes and chewed everything and hair everywhere and all that. My cats are much less trouble, although they keep going into neighbor's houses.

Soon we will get Rosie spayed so that she won't have anymore dripping blood problems, and it will be less hot so we can go on walks again. Things will get better, dog wise. We will get rid of the couch she chewed up, and try to teach her not to chew the new one. Eventually I even hope we can put the rugs back on the floor. Morning coffee has made me an optimist, at least for half an hour or so.

3. Is she a young dog?
The chewing tends to diminish with maturity. Just make sure to provide things she can chew, and direct her attention to them when she chews inappropriate objects.
